It is well known that when we go to sleep our brain won't turn off, even the dreams keep busy most of the time. Taking a cue from this concept we could argue that even our Android devices dream: some applications prevent screen switching off or keep active system to screen off to perform any kind of operation required; This concept is called wakelock.

Let's jump back. Despite the technological advances in electronic # 8217; & is continuous and increasing, some members have difficulties in keeping up: is the battery case that in recent years have not undergone any substantial update, giving the same amount of energy to devices increasingly 8220; # & affamate & #; 8221; Thus a wrong use of wakelock by some particular applications may result in a substantial reduction of the charge. The problem is that this phenomenon is absolutely transparent to the user 8217; # & and is often divided into different processes, perhaps hidden; then, 8217; # & com you can remedy

The XDA forum member ahikmat comes to the rescue with his latest creation, Wakelock Detector, 8217; # & app much cured but by simple operation: show all applications that keep awake our devices, and to what extent. In the presentation on the forum post describes the three types of wakelock:

  • Partial: uses your system even when the screen is switched off (e.g. to synchronize data)
  • Window: forcibly keeps the screen on (such as when playing a video)
  • Full: forcibly keeps the screen on maximum brightness.

Although the 8217; # & app is able to show all the different types, the most useful to help us conserve battery is the first: partial wakelock, which # 8220; & reveals a world & # 8221; even the screen battery system can show us.
