Modern Combat Zero Hour 4: it\'s time to foil a conspiracy [review]

moderncombat4

This video game generation was headed for sure from the First Person Shooter or, for non-English speakers, the first-person shooter. The Call Of Duty series is best-selling worldwide and every year Activision spins us a new chapter of the saga on console and Pc.

As we all know, the French developer of mobile Gameloft titles is very attentive to the market and realizes tailor-made securities gaming needs of players on portable devices, taking inspiration (or copying) from titles on HD consoles.

The saga of Modern Combat takes almost the weight of mechanical series of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, trying to emulate such calls at its best on our device. Come now to Chapter 4, see what they managed to do this time the guys from Gameloft.

Americanate a go go

After a presentation worthy of the best Hollywoodfilms, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour knock us immediately into action. Machine gun in hand, as Edwards Simson we vacate the beach by terrorists along with the military. Our goal is to foil the mad world control plan by Edward Page, the bad guy.

The graphics are excellent even on mid-range devices/low, even if there are frame rate problems.

The impact is remarkable: chart settings are even more detailed and comprehensive than previous chapters and the use of the Havok physics engine manages to animate the most damage and explosions. Not just recent devices will have to sacrifice a bit of frame rate in some situations to enjoy this stunning graphics. The characters could be better developed, both in terms of texture, variety is polygonal modeling. The initial feeling is that of a title graphically impressive impregnated by a flaw that permeates most of Gameloft productions: the little personality. Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour is a blatantly derivative, this we know, but unfortunately this factor affects, for better or for worse, around the title.

The variety certainly is not lacking: shootings, QTE, inventory and comanderemo levels where the drones.

The control system is a considerable obstacle for this genre of games on the portable device . The First Person Shooter are types of games designed to be played using a mouse and keyboard and only then this usually is adequate console standards due to the use of joypad, without returning the same accuracy of the above-mentioned devices. Insert a control system like that through touch screen is certainly a risky choice, but nevertheless, Gameloft has managed to overcome some problems through the introduction of automatic and aims of moving camera via gyroscope, although the latter is practically unmanageable. In fact, we'll just aim through the on-screen touch and to carry out actions of movement and firing using the virtual pad. Overall, the gameplay flows smoothly despite the usual defects data from a defective control system.

Matter of point of view

Automatic aim is imperative to ensure a smoother gaming experience.

Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour offers a very strong campaign, varied and long (I need about 8 hours of gameplay to complete the entire adventure). The narrative isn't particularly cured, but the action rushes and without tedious moments: things to do there are galore, among stocks, shootings, using drones, sections on vehicles and even some comanderemo levels where the villain himself, Edward Page. Sore point is the artificial intelligence, decidedly insufficient on all fronts. Very often, the enemies if they stand behind a hedge, firing wildly: even a grenade spodesterà them from their hiding places. To work around this problem, the guys at Gameloft have posted a number of enemies over previous chapters, adding a touch of trouble more than Mars.

The missions in which we will play Edward Page will be the richest in terms of narrative.

In addition, killing enemies, you can obtain credits to spend in the shop: upgrades, improvements and questionable services, such as the ability to skip the level. Unfortunately the costs are very high and we think that this is a precise choice made by Gameloft for introducing the usual microtransactions: but don't worry, with a (bel) some hours of gameplay you can buy everything you want.

Deathmatch, capture the flag, there is something for everyone!

If you want to experience a real challenge, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour multiplayer sector offers a broad and well-developed.

In multiplayer maps are many and very well built.

It ranges from classical modes such as deathmatch (Battle), capture the flag, area control until you get to the more interesting mode as Manhunt, where we will have to raise a flag and keep it to score points while all the other players will try to kill us and steal our banner. Our tests were very positive, without excessive lag problems. Unfortunately, the limitations of the control system are felt even more in the multiplayer mode, because the clashes will be far more frenetic than those against artificial intelligence and will require a quicker approach. The risk is to cross our fingers on the touchscreen, but surely will practice file (at least slightly) this technical limit.

Conclusion

Finally, in Modern Combat 4: Zero Houryou will always have that feeling to play for a title designed more for a home console (or PC) and mobiledevice, as has accustomed us always Gameloft.Which leads to the positive and negative elements: on the one hand we have a solid game, assisted by a single campaign the meticulous player and a multiplayer segment well done, on the other hand we have awkward controls, because the genre is not suitable for portable devices. Nonetheless, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour is a good title, full of content and by the impressive technical compartment that will undoubtedly satisfy all lovers of First Person Shooter. We recommend the game especially in the latter, all the others will do well to ponder the 8217; # & purchase, given that the monitoring system could be really uncomfortable for many people. Shame about the lack of personality of the title, a plague that afflicts the majority of this genre of games and who reigns over almost all Gamelofttitles.

Involvement: A well-done campaign full of spectacular moments. Unfortunately the little personality of the title makes the narrative a bit flat.
