Alien vs. Predator Evolution: aliens invade Play Store! [Review]

avpr

Over the years we have seen how the world of cinema has approached more videogame universe. Each of them gave something to another: for example, nowadays, most action films uses lots of special effects and many times we seem to see a cut-scene of an adventure game than a movie. On the other hand, even our beloved videogame world became influence from cinema, in fact the games are directing towards a fun based more on showmanship than on actual gameplay.

Regardless of these factors, the two worlds of entertainment have always had a meeting place: the tie-in, or commercial work products developed according to a regular grant of copyright. history teaches us that sometimes it is better to stay in place , in fact most tie-in are products developed so crass and hasty, or just games created to raise as much money as possible, except in rare (rare) cases.

Today, we will talk about a tie-in. The title is Alien vs. Predator: Evolution, developed by Angry Mob Games (the makers of colorful Muffin Knight ) in collaboration with Fox Digital Entertainment and based on the movie Alien Vs Predator and directed by Paul w. s. Anderson. Yet another commercial operation let's verify it together.

Blood vengeance

The story of AvP: Evolution revolves around the feud between the two clans, Alien and Predator. The war continues unabated and with no holds barred, also involving humans.

In the game it is possible to perform finishing moves like the God Of War series on console.

In the campaign we will step into the shoes of both clans: as Alien will have to defeat the Super Predator to protect the Queen, while the role of Predator Hunter will have to stop the Super Predator, our rival clan, and defeat the Queen Alien. The campaign is divided into 19 missions in which alterneremo the use of Alien and Predator, all very linear. The title is an adventure game where we'll have to make your way through the levels killing humans without any artificial intelligence. The control system is based solely on the virtual pad, indeed we can move with the left stick, hit the button A and defend by pressing b. Unfortunately combat is Woody and soporific and the camera is particularly awkward and imprecise, making the action very confusing screen.

Here's one of the rare occasions in which the camera will do his duty.

During the course of the adventure there will be offered simple puzzles and even small variations like the sections in which we will have to climb on the walls to reach otherwise inaccessible places. Also present 11 side-quests, which are merely variations of the main missions, where we will have to perform certain types of moves within a time limit or defend their eggs, and other similar activities.

Alien illusion

Looking at the pictures, the graphics may seem very organized. The protagonists are shaped well, although some animations are a little disappointing; but the settings are made roughly, and the levels are composed of repetitive and limited routes, do not have a particular characterization.

The graphics at first glance may seem well cared for, but unfortunately is undermined by serious technical problems.

From report of sudden loss of frame rate in the most challenging situations that will come the urge to run your device in the air. In addition, we underline the presence of many bug graphs, polygonal interpenetrations and much more that will make us understand the lack of care given by developers in the entire project. The audio industry has cared enough sound effects, but the music is entirely anonymous. A pity, because we would have expected at least an atmosphere worthy of the name.

One of the many graphical glitches present in the game.

A more aggressive appearance

The game will allow us to strengthen both & # 8217;Alien, the Predator. For each mission you will be credited points for Xenon (# & 8217;Alien, Honor for The Predator) to spend in their store: we can buy new types of build, code, weapons and much more. Unfortunately the cost required for these upgrades is very high and will not change that much l 8217; # & gaming experience, but fear not. There will also be here in-app purchases, completely misplaced given that the game is sold on Play Store at 3,73€. In short, a choice more than questionable.

Lo store ci offre una discreta personalizzazione dei nostri protagonisti in cambio di cospicue somme di punti.

The store gives us a decent customization of our protagonists in exchange for large sums of points.

Conclusion

AvP: Evolution is a bare-bones product, boring and repetitive. Developers have aimed too high, trying to emulate the present adventure games on consoles, failing in all fields. The game is not recommended at all, regardless of whether you love trying to the genre. The fan film series may find something interesting given the chance to command both clans, but we believe that the game is not worth buying even by those living on bread and aliens.

Involvement: fans of the saga immedesimeranno more in action, but everyone else will find themselves faced with a boring and linear paths without bite.
5/10
Playability: a combat system off and soporific combined with a shaky camera and confusing. Disappointing.
4/10
Graphics: the character models are good, but the gameplay is punctuated by severe bug graphics and frame rate issues. Mediocre gaming environments.
6/10
Sound: the sound effects are cared for, the music can be a bit bland.
7/10
Longevity: A sufficiently long campaign composed of repetitive missions, 19 combined with 11 side-quests.
6/10
Price: Too high given the poor quality of the title and the lack of care. Also present in-app purchases.
4/10

Overall rating : 4/10
